Finding Paradise

To the Moon equally great sequel

As expected, Freebird Games does an amazing job at making a very emotive story. If you played To the Moon previously I can assure you you will be happy to know this sequel won't disappoint you. My only complaint would be about the minigames, they weren't so bad, but I didn't quite enjoy them as much, I kind of distracted me from the story which is why I was playing this game in first place, but I didn't find it so bad either, just the main puzzle game about unlocking mementos. Also this game comes with the ost as an extra which I think it's the second best thing in this game aside from the story and why I think this game is so memorable.

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments

Detective simulator

Actually enjoyed this more than I expected. I purchased this game without knowing much about the Sherlock Holmes books or films and neither the gameplay so it didn't know what to expect when playing this. I will start with the things I didn't like: Controls, there is a very weird delay when moving around, while I understand this is not an action game, sometimes I got to stop playing the game only because I got motion sickness and I think it were the delayed camera movement. The minigames, while most were satisfying to resolve, others were very confusing, sometimes I tried to figure it out by myself because the instructions didn't explain very clearly what did I have to do (or maybe I am dumb). And some other puzzles were kind of tedious, because even if you see an element, the game didn't tell you that you needed another thing to be activated in order to continue. The good parts. The game is very immersive, not the best graphics there and I had some performance issues, but it felt great. The sound effects and the music helps a lot with the immersion as well. I loved the voice acting with some exceptions, I think foreigner characters had stupid and exaggerated voice acting but specially Sherlock Holmes voice acting I think it was fantastic. The plot of course is the best part of the game, like I said before, I've never been a Sherlock Holmes follower, so what I played here was probably my first experience with something from that and I enjoyed it much more than I thought. In conclusion I think it is a very enjoyable game, for me it's a change of pace from the more action oriented games I mostly play.

Runaway 3: A Twist of Fate

Great comeback

This game gets it right after the disappointing second part of the game, this time making a very entertaining and cohesive story. Even comes back to the events from the second game my guess is to explain some plot holes from the previous game and thanks to that I could even skip the second part since it was a mess of a game and I had to leave it there on Chapter 4. I think the problem with the second part it was that it didn't connect very well with the events from the first game and the story felt disjointed since it changed the tone to a more cartoony-ish game. This time the game returns to the serious tone the game had originally with some humor thrown there. Of course the game is not perfect and you may find some weak jokes or things there. My main concern about this game is the ending it may leave you with lots of questions but the game ends abruptly. Also some puzzles, while Pendulo fixed a lot of the preview issues with puzzles, there are still some wtf puzzles here and there, fortunately there is a new hints button which may help you when stuck, I myself made it through the game with the hints, but sometimes you will rely on it too more than you would want just because some puzzles are a little too complicated to get a clue without help. I also found some occasional bugs, nothing huge that rendered the game unplayable, but still are there. In my opinion this game is worth playing, not perfect, but it sure will please the genre fans.

Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle

The first game was fun but...

This game from the start was a mess, some sequences were lagging it was so distracting, the story wasn't as interesting as the first one, puzzles are annoying and makes you look everywhere, return to every places, talk a lot to unlock things it gets boring, graphics aren't that bad considering they are almost 15 years old, but still the game puzzles and story aren't as fun anymore, the jokes here are mostly terrible and aged the worst, while I felt embarrased of lots of things I kept playing it but the return of certain character that I hated in the first game was so annoying and then you get stuck with this character, but the thing that made me stop was getting further and then the game becoming so laggy to keep playing, I uninstalled it.

Runaway: A Road Adventure

Hidden Gem

To be honest I only purchased this game because of the price and it happened that it was better than I thought. Great plot and story, gives a very Broken Sword vibe. Of course the game has its flaws, the voice acting isn't the greatest, some puzzles requires very specific actions in order to execute them, also may offend some people with some specific dated humor. Despite that, I found the game still holds up, graphics still look great for an almost 20 year old game, it was disappointing not finding the game in Spanish though which is weird as this game was developed by Spanish people.

Quake II

Still a fun game

Though I think it's a little overrated in comparison to it's predecesor and I wish Quake 4 should have been the sequel to a Quake 1 game, it's still a classic and timeless game.
