I played Diablo 2: LOD consistently for about 10 years. I also played Nox quite a lot during that time and still believe that it is a more creative and enriching RPG experience. From what I recall, it has a bit of a Terry Pratchett style and I preferred the story and gameplay. Unfortunately for Nox, Diablo 2's online multiplayer was far more popular (never-ending trading/grinding, clans and PVP, etc.) even though the modding and PVP in Nox was pretty epic. I wouldn't disagree with anyone who claims that Nox is the better game...
After playing through just about every other classic CRPG, I fell for all the Planescape hubbub and purchased a copy for my old Linux ThinkPad. I'll cut to the chase: the writing is incredible -- better than any other game I've ever played -- but everything else is so underwhelmingly dull. I'd prefer this game as a text-based adventure.
