Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Enhanced Plus Edition

This mistakes randomness for difficulty

I'm playing with 1.0 damage, normal crits, normal monster, basically the rules as they should be played. I'm finding the game to be quite easy in that all you need to do to succeed in every encounter is to have a stealthy scout to have a look at the enemies stats, then buff accordingly, then charge in. And in longer fights, there are lots of disable spells to use. The problem with this game is the randomness. I've seen too many very high damage crits that oneshots my character from full hp forcing me to reload. A game that has back and forth play and counterplay where you eventually run out of resources and get killed, like a puzzle where you have to really think about how best to solve it, that's a difficult game. This game is not that. Getting oneshot by something because of a bad dice roll, that's not difficulty, that is randomness. I have played about 40hours, I think I'm around one third through the game. My experience of this game so far is that 90% of the encounters are too easy and requires zero thinking, just cast the same buffs and cast the same disable spells, then let AI auto-attack handle the rest. The other 10% can either be solved by reloading a few times until you get a good set of dice rolls, or coming back later when you have leveled up. I don't see how this can be enjoyable for anybody. Three paragraphs in and I haven't said anything about the story at all, yes, that is how forgettable this game's story is. It's just generic fantasy, there is nothing to say about it. So in summary, this game mistakes randomness for difficulty. Rolling a dice and getting a low number doesn't mean rolling dice is a difficult thing to do. Once you have learned the pathfinder ruleset, this game has as much difficulty as rolling dice, and you will enjoy it as much as rolling dice again and again by yourself. I didn't enjoy it, but I do understand how some people would enjoy it, after all gambling addiction is not a rare thing.

Unplayable mess of bugs

Is this a game meant to be played for fun or a joke meant to show us how many bugs can fit into a computer program? Honestly I am not sure. So here is a tiny sample of just some of the bugs you will encounter within your first few hours of game time: 1) One of my cruiser spotter planes disappeared in the middle of the ocean, but it still appears the task force list, when i click and drag it, the box duplicated and crashed the game. The save file is corrupted with this bug. The game is literally unplayable. 2) On my second try, a different bug broke the game. The game refused to save. It displays the message "game saved", but no save file was created. Nothing will fix this bug. You have to re-start the campaign. Thank God I didn't play that many hours when this happened. 3) Position of ships and planes in the map view and in the combat view do not correspond to each other. 4) After giving your fighters the order to intercept enemy fighters, your fighters will completely ignore your orders, fly around in circles in the middle of the empty ocean, then fly back. 5) After giving your ASW bombers the order to bomb enemy subs, they will fly around the enemy subs and not attack, then fly back to base. 6) Your ships will repeatedly circle the sea until it has reached the exact cursor location of your move order. If you wan to move a formation of ships, hahahaha, good luck! 7) My destroyer was gunned down by an enemy submersible. Because realism. 8) On a computer that can run most shooters at 4k 60fps+, this game jumps between 20 to 100fps on the lowest graphics settings, occassionally freezing up. That is only a tiny selection of the bugs I encountered in this game. It would not be possible to list everything. VASP not a game. VASP is a collection of bugs. Patches will not be able to fix this game. The only way to fix this game is to fire the programming team, then hire a new competent programming team, then delete all of the code and make a new game.
