I waited on this game till update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty so I can't speak to all the issues it had prior to this point in time. I monitored the progress and updates because I thought the game had potential and eventually pulled the trigger and got the Game + DLC on sale for what it would have been around launch day for just the base game. It was worth the wait though this game handles character interactions/dialogue and relationships better than any other game in this genre I've played. Characters have real distinct personalities and talking to them feels very natural which by itself is a monumental achievement because it can be difficult to recreate what feel like real interactions in a virtual environment like this. The FPS/RPG aspect of the game works very well too the skills and choices you make for upgrades really do heavily influence your play style which again is very hard to pull off. People seem very critical of this game for "what could have been" with all this rhetoric about how they've been betrayed by what they were promised. People think this stuff is easier than it really is for some reason. I can't think of another game like this that even comes close to the immersive depth on several levels that this game has but that said not everything is my cup of tea for example I think the endings are lazy/poorly done. They don't reflect the quality of the game up to that point it's like you get this quality long running narrative experience and then it drops off a cliff whenever you get into one of the endings. They're all very low IQ and deeply unsatisfying. I've seen a lot of people say "well that's just cyberpunk bruh if you're expecting a happy ending you're a fool" but that's never what I expected they're all deeply unfulfilling which is not true of the genre. Pointing out the expectation for a happy ending is a straw-man these are just bad endings period and intentionally so for whatever reason. Otherwise it's great all around.
