It's a shooting-roguelite-type indiegame. Plays alright but there's a bunch of issues around the edges with the gameplay and significant problems with the overall look of the game. The game has this fake retrogame-style pixel art look that a lot of other indiegames have. I really don't like it. It's hard to tell what anything is supposed to be. It's hard to differentiate enemies. There are hazards like arrow traps, poison vines and mines that completely blend into the background. It's extremely frustrating when the player gets hit by one of those. There's low enemy variety. There's an enemy type that uses a shield. It's an awful enemy with way too much health. Without the "increased max ammo upgrade" the player will constantly run out of ammo. The starting max ammo amount is very tiny especially when you consider how tanky some of the enemies are. There's 3 boss fights. I can give the first 2 a pass but the 3rd and final one is a pretty bad bullet-sponge-tank with a fast firing heavy machinegun and a shield. It's as annoying as the regular shield enemies with added fast bullets. Without the "slow enemy bullets" upgrade it's too annoying to dodge the bullets. There are stealth mechanics but they are only relevant on the first few stages. Once you hit the second area there is too much enemy density to even attempt stealth. Also enemies suddenly start surviving your stealth attacks due to increased health. There are just too many enemies at later stages. It bogs down the gameplay loop since the main character is so fragile and there's permadeath. The player has to take it slowly and methodical. Too much, i think. Once you beat the third boss you have to replay the first three stages in reverse order. It's a cute gimmick but without any sort of new boss enemies or interesting mechanics it gets dull. When you beat the game you're pretty much done with it. There's multiple playable characters but they all look and feel the same with minor stat differences.
