I've very little to add to the dozens of other reviews already posted on this page, but there's something that this version of the game and the one available on steam do not have in common. Whenever, for some particular reason you try to run Stardew Valley on an operating system other than Windows, multiplayer isn't available. I expected to be able to connect to my friend using a friend code, but the GOG version of Stardew valley only allows you to do local multiplayer IF you aren't using a supported operating system. This isn't an issue in Steam.
Although the gameplay, controls and puzzles were an improvement from the previous installment of the game, the game is too short and ends in a cliffhanger (again). The best way to describe the game is a boring walking simulator with few puzzles scattered through it. The most engaging part of the game was the english voice acting, and to my disappointment, some of the lines were absent with only subtitles available for the dialogue.
