Firstly, I could not start the S3 on Windows 11 after downloading the game directly from the GOG desktop app. After reading other comments in the reviews, I downloaded the offline installer from GOG and installed it on top of the existing installation. Then I downloaded the .exe file from Settlers United which enables you to run the game on W11, play online with friends and even displays the game on my 34" monitor. What else you can ask? On the contrary, sometimes the game crashes and sometimes I see map glitches, but overall OK.
