Far Cry® 2: Fortune's Edition

Amusing, but shallow and repetitive

This is a great game if you want to scratch a FPS itch for about an hour a week. After 3 hours I find myself thoroughly bored. As Herzalot's review stated - the game is just boring. You get a quest, which is about 95% of the time to go shoot someone in the face, drive across a big map getting ambushed the whole way, shoot someone in the face, then repeat. So yeah, buy it, play it, enjoy it, but it's really a secondary game, not one I'd try to work all the way through over the course of a few weeks.

Lords of the Realm 3

Horrible HORRIBLE game

I still play LotR 2 occasionally, and this game actually made me angry when I bought it. They took out all the interesting parts of LotR 2 and replaced them with ... nothing. Micromanagement is gone, sieges are terrible, it's not turn-based on the strategy map so the whole thing feels frantic, and the worst part is there was no documentation (that may have changed) so there was no real indication of what to do next, why some agent was pillaging your treasury all the time, etcetera. Clicking on an army, then clicking on a neighbor's kingdom automatically declared war, the battles lacked tactical abilities like subtle flanking (attacking sides of a unit from a 45-degree angle) ... this game is a mess. The only thing they upgraded was the graphics and those aren't anything interesting.
