Black Mirror 1

Not good

I bought this game because of its rating , so I felt obligated to do a review that might prevent people from buying it. I've given it 2 stars because I think the animations show effort and the plot was decent. But the gameplay mechanics make this completely skippable. There will be spoilers in the form of frustrating examples continuing from here. This game doesn't let you pick up anything that isn't nailed down. It makes you have a reason first like in Broken Sword. But this game goes way too far. You often can't even click on an item to view it until you need to. In fact, you will often be told that there is nothing in: a tool box, a trash bin, a dark corner, etc. so that you think you never need to check that area again until all of a sudden you do. This game becomes a pixel hunt over and over without any clue of where to start that hunt. One huge problem is that the game limits you on location when you need those items. All throughout it will prevent you from travelling to other places artificially. You might need a shovel, and there are a few lying in the backgrounds of different scenes, but you need the invisible one that had never been clickable before in the corner of some screen. I went through a solid amount of this game assuming you couldn't die, then I clicked a live wire thinking I would get a description about it, but instead I grabbed it and died. That cost me 20 minutes of backtracking. There's also 1 part where you could potentially screw up your ability to finish the game, if you shoot a lock incorrectly. Very unfair. Save often. The worst thing about the game is that it makes you waste time. Often a character asks you to give them some time. This means you need to leave and come back, up to 7 times. How would you know to come back 7 times without reading a walkthrough, which is what I had to do? I hate reading walkthroughs, but it will be required with this game. This game reminds me of Sanitarium in mood, but that game is 50x more fun.
