Solid 4d strategy that lands squarely between the Civilization series (most gameplay elements including research, armies, and cities) and Crusader Kings 2 (families, characters). Notably less complex than CK2 in terms of character development, but adds just about enough to personalize the experience for each run. Visually pleasing, great music. Developers are active in the community (incl. Reddit sub). Game puts noticeable burden on the CPU in the endgame of large maps, so older chips might cause from sluggish performance. Overall, very well worth it for fans of the genre.
