Caves of Qud

takes time, and it's worth it

I'll preface this by saying I love Tales of Maj'Eyal and excellent Rouge-likes. I've been on the fence about CoQ for a long time. Finally jumped in and in the the first evening I questioned my purchase... I kept at it, my stubborn will to like the game (or at least be sure I didn't) kept pulling me along. After enough exposure to the controls, menus, and the world of Qud, it started to feel better. My Kin were living longer and leveling up more and more. Now, I'm sure I really like the game. I wonder if the menus could be categorized and streamlined, but being developed as an ASCII / text game, I understand the choices. There are MANY options to customize so much of the game's display and controls. It really is worth tinkering with several options until the game suits you. Keep playing and it will eventually hook you. When it does, you'll be pulled into the world and each adventure feels full of possibilities (including untimely death). Caves of Qud is worthy of your time, so give it some.
