The main problem I am having is the developers hard coded resolutions into the game instead of it being dynamic. I'm sure this gives problems to ultra widescreen monitors but the problem I have is I cannot run this in a maximized window. This is very sloppy and should've been a priority from the beginning of development. Performance is very good. I used to run this on a 2nd gen i7 with HD 4000 graphics, albeit not great, but playable. A lot of time has gone into optimizations and it shows, except maybe in the plant sway animations.
I bought this assuming it was a native linux game like it says, which it is not. It is a windows game packaged with an old version of wine. After speaking with a representative, I was basically told that they are allowed to lie about it and I can't do anything about it. This not being a linux game is relevant to the experience in a huge way. I could not hit 60fps on this game no matter what I did. It also had some very serious graphical artifacts. I have no idea what was causing the artifacts. My PC booted into Windows can easily hit 60fps on Cyberpunk 1080p. There is also some very serious incompatibilities with wayland with the window management. This was overall a very unpleasant experience and was the last game I will buy from Gog.
The game promotes family destructive ideologies. Game play is fine, but there are 2 instances of imposing some ideas that go against what makes a family. This ruined the game for me, because it was obvious these instances were there to push an ideology, not support the game in any way. They played no importance in the story line or game play. The game was also easily beaten in 2 sittings, probably not worth as much as whatever the current price is. I would not recommend. Ideology pushing aside, the game is a low budget metroidvania, and the ending(s) are very unsatisfying.
Mac OS Monterey on my laptop and it crashes on startup. I tried re-downloading twice. I have to use my Windows desktop. Apparently this has been a consistent problem with this game on Mac for a while and developers have yet to fix the issue. Earliest reports of this are over 2 years ago. I cannot recommend any video games from the company ConcernedApe, they do not seem too concerned with Mac compatibility but will advertise them as such.
Aesthetically, great game. Is not at all a ghost/mystery game like you would think. I won't give spoilers, but it is just designed to tell a story as going around clicking stuff. Terribly boring and you are being exposed to unnatural ideas. I wouldn't recommend this.
