I own the game on Steam and finished in twice. I really do not understand the hate as the game is pretty solid. In my 2 playthroughs, i got stuck once in a crate. People compare to Ion Fury and then complain about enemy variety and bad AI. Well i think it is on par for both games. The game has a good lengthy campaign with nice different environments. I only wish the chopper level i could steer myself, but i guess it would be boring and confusing so no complains here. I like the graphical style which is similar to Graven (which was also fun) The weapons are fun and the enemies are fun to kill. Yes, there might be some bugs but as mentioned I had one bug that required me to load a previous checkpoint. Yes, there are no manual saves, but i didn't need it either. Most sections don't require you to redo much anyway. Other games (wolfenstein new order) also didn't have a save system and worked out just fine. I give 4/5 but one extra star because you can see your legs in the game.
I do not own the game on GOG nor on PC. The price is to steep for this mediocre game. Instead I bought it on PS4 for 12 euro on a sale with PS-plus discount. The game is nothing like the trailers. After visiting 20+ planets and moons, they all look the same except different color palettes. Planets designated as forest planets may have 2 trees in a square mile if you are lucky. And it's boring. It's so boring I can barely push myself to login and try to explore. I really hope the NEXT update will make most of it better. I hope for fun co-op with a friend and hopefully more dangerous creatures on a planet or something. I use the cheap PS4 version just to see if it will eventually be worth it. If it will get better I might pick up 2 copies for PC so i can play with my son or wife or whoever want's to co-op explore. But I still think 70-80 euro is way to steep.
Levels feel to small. Lots of clipping issues. Hard to spot enemies. You get fired on and you just don't know who or what. General darian's lair not as good as original. No quicksave but checkpoints. Movement feels odd. Speed is good as the original was fast. If you want slower, choose Doug Wendt as character as he walks the slowest and has most health. Multiplayer is fun, but i miss the original's game modes. Tag, collect triads etc. Game feels like a rushed mod. It is still fun, but I rather play the original with winrott. Hopefully patches will improve the game in some ways. I will keep my hopes up.
