Technobabylon: Deluxe Edition

Great atmosphere

Technobabylon is the first adventure I ever completed. I am not much of an adventure gamer, but I bought this game on a whim as I was looking for good cyberpunk-themed entertainment. I wasn't disappointed! Bearing in mind that I might be considered a beginner in the adventure genre, I found that many of the puzzles could be challenging, but never to an unfair or illogical extent. What I loved most about the game is the fact that it tells the story through a number of different characters, creating a great effect when you realise how their different plots are inter-twined. The atmosphere is dense and immersive, and the music certainly adds a lot to that. While this game deals with some fairly dark issues (it is set, after all, in a dystopian future), it manages to strike a good balance between these themes and some lighter tones. On a more technical note, I did not encounter any bugs during the 12 or so hours I played this game, except for the ones mentioned in other reviews (such as the crashing when you press ALT-TAB). All in all, though, this game was a very smooth and entertaining experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in cyberpunk, science-fiction and adventures.
