I normally don't write reviews, but this is a series I am extremely passionate about. This is an open-world beat-em-up series with RPG character development, lots of addictive minigames and a very strong 90s Tokyo flavor. This game is also a two-sided coin, as one side has some very deep storytelling with truly moving heartfelt moments. While on the other side having some of the most hilarious nonsense going on with other events. When I first played this series, I was reminded why I love gaming so much. It also renewed the love for Sega I had in my youth. The games follow Kiryu, an orphan-turned-Yakuza who does as much good as he can in the world he lives in. He seems very much influenced by Toshiro Mifune in the various Kurosawa samurai movies he played in back in the day. In the process of cleaning up the various cityscapes based on real-life districts, he gets up to both serious, heartfelt moments and wacky hijinks. I could list my favorites but that would surpass the limits on this review. He is joined by friends that are equally as memorable, like his friendly rival Majima that is like a loveable take on Heath Ledgers Joker or Vegeta from DBZ. Every game features minigames that could easily be a whole game onto themselves, like mini car racing where you customize the cars from parts you find all over the game and race different characters you meet as you play. Another one I love is Cabaret Club management, where you compete against other clubs and hire workers you find in the world. Sega even found a way to make real estate management fun. Every game also has a classic collection of Sega games that you can play in the game. I am running out of characters I can write for this review, but as a lifelong gamer I'll tell you that if you like open-world games you will love these. I could easily go on and on about this series but Ill just end by saying just buy them now, you will easily get your moneys worth in good times and laughs. You can thank me later ;)
