Kingdom Rush: Frontiers

Great game but missing content forever

KRF is a great game, very fun, but three stars because it's missing several maps and heroes that the Steam version has, which I don't see the rationale for.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Anniversary Edition

Great game but GOG version is buggy

Dawn of War 1,2 and 3 are some of my all time favourite games but where my original CD version works flawlessly on my PC, the GOG version crashes constantly. I've tried multiple fixes, running in compatibility mode, different install paths, etc... but still crashes.

Iron Marines

Not as compelling as Kingdom Rush

I love Kingdom Rush so was excited to play Iron Marines. The art is brilliant as you'd expect from the artists at Ironhide. Mainly though, the gameplay isn't as fun for me. The rts mechanics aren't particularly deep, but they aren't as passively relaxing as KR either. You have to click a million times to move your units around, which makes them say their catchphrases over and over which gets annoying fast. - Pathfinding is annoying as squads split up quite regularly, ending up on different sides of an obstacle. Likwise, when you click an area near a chasm, some units will get put on one side and some on the other. - I didn't think the enemies were as instantly recognisable as the fantasy trope enemies in KR. - The music wasn't as catchy or focused, at times sounding like lots of sound effects playing at once. - The UI was less streamlined. I do appreicate they wanted to branch out with this game, I just don't think the RTS genre plays to Ironhide's strengths personally.
