Cyberpunk 2077

Brings me back...

It's December 24th, 2000, my stepfather (a royal asshole most of the time) called me downstairs and handed me a copy of Baldur's Gate II. I immediately ran back to my room, installed the game (4 dvds, it took an hour to do so) and spent the entire Christmas break in Fearun. The first of many playthroughs and one of the fondest memories of my childhood years. And as time goes by, though the game has aged and became outdated, no other came close to Bioware's classic in terms of invoking these feelings of pure joy, excitement and engagement. That is, until 2015, when Witcher III came out… And December 10th, 2020. Some may say that the bugs are disgraceful, the gameplay is dated or that it does not live up to the hype. But in my opinion, we do not play games to analyze their individual components, we play, because of how they make us feel. Cyberpunk 2077 makes me feel like it's Christmas twenty years ago, and for me, there is no higher praise.
