Having played almost all the other games in the franchise I've seen how this game evolves. This has a more detailed crafting system as well as a settlement sytem which means you can never find too much junk since theres so much to build. The settlement building system is fun though if you can't get into it there will be less to do apart from follow the storyline and exploration. The npc interaction is adequate though simplified compared to earlier games. There is a lot to get into and if you do want to do a 2nd playthrough I recommend the vast resources available through modding. Game mechanics needs time to get into. I do feel a normal playthrough becomes too easy in the late game. You may wish to try survival mode for more of a challenge though it is more time consuming. I did find survival to be fun once I could optimize my load out and perk selection.
Well, it helps if you're a fan of the 40 Universe. I realy enjoyed it and the micromanagement of my units. Lots of equipment management, the music is AMAZING and overall great atmosphere and voice acting. Was so good I replayed it 2nd time around on max difficulty. Mind you, I only played it using specific skillsets for each Sergeant. Could've been more replay value but after getting repetitive strain injury and having to use an alternate finger for mouse clicking for weeks I thought it was time to put it on hold. Well, I think its the best in the DOW series. Some may disagree, but at least there were strong roleplaying elements which I and III don't have. Amazing game and totally recommended!
Pretty much the best game ever. I rarely suffer from game addiction but this game lead to 3 hours sleeping in the weekends and all. To think my initial impressions watching the game on youtube seemed uninspiring, with a featureless overland map. Turns out its a game above all games. Combat is repetitive but fascinating. You can focus your main character on management and leadership skills or combat. Still unaccustomed to combat, after 3 years I am still barely able to strike anything with a sword on horseback. However the management aspect and looting is always fun. You love combat, and you love looting. Found micromanagement of my companions fun. After 6 months I started getting into multiplayer and modding. Multiplayer is fun when you see large groups with maybe 100-150 individuals on two sides or maybe smaller parties. Also there are some pretty good mods that change gameplay and are quite complete. 11/10 game.
