Warlords Battlecry 2

Malcom in the Middle

Having played all three games in the series I would recommend playing the 3rd one as opposed to this if you’re only going to play one. That said the graphics are pretty much the same throughout as is the gameplay. The only thing that really differentiates them from each other is the campaign and the choices in hero creation. WBC2 is the middle of the road in all of it. All of the campaigns are different. This one plays as a risk-style board game with no story. It’s a lot of fun and a good twist on the others. You aim to expand your influence and plant flags on all the open plots of land. Unclaimed territories are soft and ones that have an opposing flag are tougher. The difficulty is just right for me and it does take a decent amount of time to complete. Graphically I think this game aged alright contrary to the common sentiment. It’s all very low detail, but at least it’s not boxy and offensively early 2000’s. It’s its own thing. You like it or you don’t. The gameplay can’t be beat. Sooo many factions. You figure out the optimal strategy for each very early on, but you can always start from scratch with a new one. There’s a lot of broken mechanics but it’s a single player game. If you don’t like them…don’t use them. The resource battle is very unique and such a fun way to spice up the game. It makes having your hero such a big deal. I love this game and I always go back to it every few years. I’d give every game in the series 5 stars with the exception of possibly the first. Give them a try!
