SKALD: Against the Black Priory

Old-School goodie

Old-school in many respects, including a somewhat clunky interface. It transports you back to a time when graphics were less significant than the story and gameplay.

RoboCop: Rogue City

Flawed, but made with love

If I had to rate it as a shooter, I wouldn't give it more than 3 stars. However, the respect and love for the franchise here is something to celebrate, especially with studios often butchering our beloved characters in movies and games. Murphy's one-liners made me smile and even laugh; the writing is very solid, and Detroit is as good as it could be given the studio's budget constraints. If they had CDPR's budget, it would be a gem. It is a gem, albeit a flawed one. Crashes and minor bugs were present, but I wasn't even mad at them, as the game provided me with great fun and fond memories of my childhood hero.

The Last Stand: Aftermath

Fun game with interesting mechanics

Has more complexity and depth than it shows at the beginning. Very fun game.

Songs of Conquest

Labor of love

You can tell the creators poured their love and effort into this, and that alone is worth five stars. I was expecting a mediocre storyline, but the flavor and writing are fantastic!

Serpent in the Staglands

Meh

Don't buy into "you are not mature/skillful enough for this game" bs. It is poorly done, despite I see that the devs put a lot of heart into it and tried to do something unique, which is always good thing to experience - sadly, the execution is bad, and owuld be so even if it was released 15 years earlier. I like the fact that the game does not lead you by hand, as it's an annoyance in games nowadays. But... I can't remember worse and underwhelming intro to a story. It could be great, as the idea (though a bit cliche - you are a god that needs to walk the earth and find a way to go back) is an interesting one. Its presentation is as bland as an average political party agenda, though. If you make a game with a bit weird and interesting world, you need to put more effort to present it well enough to let the people immerse into it. Why are the foxes attacking me on the spot? Has the nature went mad? Are the all animals rabid? What's the nearest town? Who rules this land? Is it theocracy, aristocracy, hippie commune? Let me ask NPCs about stuff like that or learn it somehow if I am to immerse in this world ffs. Dialogue options are as diverse as strategies in a game of tic-tac-toe, and equally interesting. Also, written so clumsy you need to read them twice - and you are bored by them halfway through the first approach. And to put out a game with an interface that bad in 2015 is a crime in itself. If you can forgive such mistakes/weird choices, give it a try, maybe it's getting better later on. I won't put effort into it, as the creators didn't put enough effort into some aspects of the game. Maybe they overly focused on different aspects, maybe they were stretched, I don't know. It's not a turd, but dangerously close to it. Music is great!

Nexus: The Jupiter Incident

Nice space RTS

The controls are far from great, but it's a neat game to play. Someone wrote in his/hers review that it's more of a puzzle game than strategy, and I agree. If you pick the wrong setup, you will be punished. Key is to choose the right tools for the task, but before the mission it's usually hard to guess what's gonna work. So expect a lot of restarting until you find a proper approach. Music is awesome!

Battle Brothers

Emptiness and Void

I feel stupid for believing it will be a good game and buying all DLCs without checking out the base game. Fool! It looks good at first, but in the first hour you basically get everything that this game has to offer, everything else is just repetitive. It seems (not sure about that) there's also a level-scalling, which deprives you of any feel of advancement. I also think that enemies operate on different rules than you, wich when added to RNG, makes the gameplay pretty bad experience. The graphics are really nice, and music absolutely awesome, but the most important thing - tactical aspect and gameplay - extremely poor.
