At the time of writing this review, this game on GOG seems completely forgotten by the devs. The latest version available on GOG is 3.0.10, I double checked the steam store page and the devs have version 4.0.1 with 4.2.0 on the way. I don't know where the disconnect is for the game from the steam version and the GOG version but GOG players seem to be second class citizens to this dev if they keep this update cycle up. I understand this game is developed by one person, if you truly still want to support them don't get the GOG version, you're better off on steam.
