These Titles can't really be recommended, especially not for the Price (even discounted). The Problem isn't that they are old, but more that they have mostly clunky and bad Game Design. Until now i was able to make the most out of Heroes of Lance with 1+ Hour of Gameplay and if you also want to have somehow a bit of enjoyment, watch a Playthrough to learn how to deal with those Games.
I really really hate the main Protagonist, the talk System don't really shows what the Protagonist will say and when he opens the Mouth, i just can't feel related to that Person. This kills the whole roleplaying Aspekt of the Game. It does look nice, but in my Opinion, Fallout 3 and new Vegas did everything better. I've spend 20 Hours in Steam in that Game, enough Time to catch my Interest, but it just didn't click. The Main Plot is also VERY predictable and i never felt like i am in a Wasteland, lost in the Apocalypse. It was more a Theme Park.
Have the Castlevania Collection on the Switch and i am very glad that Konami put one of those now also here on Gog. The Contra Collection comes, as also the former named, with different Versions of the Games. So you can play Super Probotector with its Robots (i really like them, they have some Terminator Vibe) or the easier japanese Version of the Mega Drive Game. It also comes with a nice "Book" that containes Informations, Pictures, Scatches and Interviews - That surely takes most Space of the Installation ;). You also have different Display Modes, from 4:3 to Pixel Perfect and same with Scanlines... who uses stretched? You are able to chose between to Borders, could have been some more. You have an Autofire included that you can turn on by simply pressing L1. Here comes one Point why i only give it four Stars, you can't change the Controls in the Megadrive Games, you can in the others, but not there - Really Strange. Thats a negative Point as Jump is not on B (Nintendo Style, or A if you think MS Style), really unnatural to play in that Way. Fix that and bring us also the Castlevania Collection to Gog :)
I have that USB-Stick 8-Bit Edition and played it on my Mister / Anbernic. Now thanks to Gog i can see the "enhanced" Edition ;) The Game has a really nice Style to it, the Sprites are just lovable. Movement and Gameplay feel very good and spot on, nothing clunky here. You have enough Save Points, so even newer Methods as Save States aren't necessary.
Looks really nice, bought a HDR Monitor lately and this show the Potential of it :) The Textures are really intelligent made, i was sceptical how they manage to make the Game so small, but then i saw that the Textures are pixelated. They managed to make it in a Way, that it gives a oldschool Vibe, but in the overall Composition it does look very very modern and you don't really see it. The overall Atmosphere is very nice, futuristic space horror with neon Vibes. Voiceovers are well done and Enemies look good. Gameplaywise it seems very solid, the Layout to "use" with the right Mouse Button instead of E is something i have to get use to it. With E and Q you lay youself to the Side to look out the Corner. Because you can manage the Difficulty in various Ways, the Experience can seemingly change from Person to Person. Haven't figured out how to avoid those Granades that explode when you go near them :> I am convinced that i'll have Fun with the final Product, preordered it now. I also really glad they get such a good Look out of without wasting Tons of Space on your Drive.
The original Doom 3 is such a atmospheric and action paced Master Piece. I love the original Classics, but the Redesign of the Monsters here are very well done and very welcome. I recommend to use HD Textures, they make the Game look up to Date and makes it even superior to the BFG Edition. The original has better Design in how the Lightning is done, also some Effects are missing in the BGF Edition. The Eyes of your Enemies also don't gloom in the Dark. Alls the Stuff that is going on in the Industrial Complex and the Depiction of Hell is so great and unique. Love it! Shotgun is a oneshot Killer, it just forces you to overcome your Fear and get close to your Enemy. Your Light is a handy Tool to "kill" Corpse... To prevent them to scare you when they stand up :P
You are Galactus, Devourer of Worlds, ehm Cities. You and your Herolds cross the Universe, eh World Map, to leech all Ressources you can gather. Fun aside, it is a pretty fun Game that mixes up the 4X Formula by leting you cross the World with your Tower and settle in different Locations with limited Ressources. You get Heroes and Troops to fight in turn based Battles a la HOMM. A Spellbook to research Spells, a Tower to build up and Quests that appear everywhere while Playing. The Ressource Management is pretty well done and i really like how they implemented the Book to research or acomplish Stuff. Your Herolds have special Quests to complete and depending on your Choices, the other Mages do like you more or less. Technical it is a really nice looking Game and pretty good optimized, it just doesn't stress your System. I would only wish that it would have a bit more of an "Oompf" when bigger Enemies fall. The walking Sound is very strange, but i somehow like it and i don't wish to change it :D Music could need some upbeat Battle Tracks as in Heroes 3. Five Stars, very well done Game.
Leider zu schwer für meinen Geschmack und nicht wirklich einladent. Stil ist schön, Musik eher langweilig. Schade, Fehlkauf.
I have to agree most People: + Game looks really good. + Style is very good Anime like, normally western Games look very amateurish when copying that Style + Music is ok + Nice Locations - Controls are floaty, you could get used to it but - The Levels throw many Obstacles at you - And these have a bad Hit Detection This really kills the Game for me sadly.
