Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

good storytelling bad gwenting

If you like the GWENT and the witcher lore and ambiance you may like this game, but only if you're into both because playing it just for the gwent is meh. The level design is pretty nice, the characters are too and the story is allright. I found it a bit 'soapish' by the witcher standards though. I enjoyed the DA a lot. I personnaly like the puzzles as some are well though, tricky and challenging. That's all for the pros, it's a CDR project so expect this TB to be good on what they do best. The big con of Thronebreaker is the GWENT part. It's easy, like really really easy and i played it on the hardest 'difficulty'. Yours cards and combo are OP as hell. That makes the game feel way too long as at a point all standard and even story battles just feel like a chore you have to do to get through the story. That's a prob as the narration is supposed to make you feel tense but you just wreck all the opponents, steamrolling the game. Basiclly the only battle that forced me tweak my deck was the final one. The ressource management is overly simple and always for an option that a necessity (That could be a good point for some). So it's a solid storytelling RPG. But if you're in it for a good card game, play the GWENT game, it's free.
