It may be dated mechanically and technically, but it still offers a robust and overall fun experience. This game recieved a remaster called Second Contact though I recommend this original version over it solely for the old-school vibe.
Overall, not a bad remaster. It can be hard to justify considering the original release is free, and source mods exist. Regardless, if you decide to grab this I recommend disabling the in-game v-sync option as well as the framerate limit. I then enabled v-sync and limited the ramerate to 61 in my nvidia control panel. I would also tinker with the mouse sensitivity and the x & y scale sliders.
True to the original while providing much needed accessibility and graphical updates. Glad to see it finally released.
