I've played for around 20 hours thus far. I'm appalled at the lack of content. And it's not even what was promised vs what was delivered. It's that there's nothing there. Everything you would want in a sandbox game is just missing. The game physics and mechanics are all bland and boring. Flight is an autopilot affair when on a planet. It holds you at a specific altitude so you don't crash into the ground. You point the nose of the craft where you want to go, and it lazily takes you there. You don't control landings, just press a button and it will land. And never in the spot you want to land. See that landing pad. Let's miss it by 50'. The NPCs are non existent. I've seen more characters in NES top down RPGs. The aliens you meet in buildings just stand there. Doing nothing but occasionally waving their arms. They provide nothing to story or gameplay, and simply take up space. The buildings you were supposed to see were going to be randomly generated, and provide endless gameplay. There are around a dozen buildings, all the same, with the same loot inside. There's nothing random about them, as each one is prebuilt and then randomly placed at near equal distance apart from each other on planets. The animals, which were supposed to have some sort of AI, wander around aimlessly doing absolutely nothing. There's a bubble around the aggressive ones, and if you cross it, they will ram you and barely damage you. The peaceful ones just wander the planet, oblivious to you. Space flight is terrible, as every ship, from the smallest fighter to the slightly less small (but still single person) freighter you can fly are all identical in every way, minus cargo space. There's no crafting, no survival, no enemies, no flight, no RPG, no NPCs, no story, no adventure, no exploring, no danger, and nothing interesting outside of the first hour of gameplay. DO NOT waste your money. I haven't even gotten into the performance issues on PC, but I'm out of space in
