Story and game play are good. Character build and leveling are great. Bonus for combat can use either real time or turn based. Yet the game is unfinished the addition of "events" and kingdom management drag the whole thing down. The concept is excellent but execution failed. There is very little explanation or help in how the system works, which stats help what roles. The system does not walk you through the steps for building. Then there is a lack of connection. When you reach certain targets the next step does not appear. The worst part is the timed negative events. At least 2 of them have no clear explanation of why they are happening when. Checking the game boards these events are supposed to encourage movement along, but the triggers are not aligned with other events or game play. Nor do they give guidance on how to resolve (where to visit or what quests lines to complete). Even though it is a great game I cannot recommend it due to the kingdom management execution - fix that and the game would be great (I think it can enhance the game play).

The Witcher series is still one of the best game trilogies out there. Choices at least have some carry through throughout the series allowing the story to flow better with your choices. Have replayed more than once and looking to do it again. Graphics may be a bit dated but do not let that fool you.
Being a fan of Elix 1 I had high hopes. Game play was still challenging and yet exploration was dialed back. The mix between game play and cut scenes was average. Decent controls. However, the story can be extremely frustrating. If you made certain choices in Elix 1, like whom you hooked up with, your faction of choice or how you ended the game; it does not carry through. The only used one possible outcome of many and it killed the story line and did affect the game.
This game has many greats: exploration, story, combat. It is very challenging at first, but by the end no enemy is able to stand next to you. There are plenty of cut scene, with lots of lore and interesting commentary, but you need to like the story more than the grind. Excellent graphics. This game say choices matter but the true is most choices matter little. Spoiler: The game has 3 endings, yet all the choices do not matter like the in game plays. Worse yet the choices you made do not carry over into Elix 2.
