I wanna get the bad stuff away first: There's quite amount of bugs that almost ruined the game for me. I'm not sure is it because of Windows 11, or what, but the UI is somewhat buggy. I was once able to softlock the game by just pressing a normal interactable object at (maybe idk) wrong time. Also during the game, when I selected the pause menu, I pressed New Game, new menu popped up, like normal. But then for some reason the game thought I was back at the game and I was able to play the game, but the New Game menu screen was still there in my way softlocking me. I had few more, but these were the worst ones. Even after all that, I still really enjoyed my time so far. W&G really does feel appropriate in a point&click type game. Voice acting is on point, even though Wallace is not voiced by Peter Sallis. It was little distracting at first, but overall good replacement. Also the game is pretty easy to figure out, which works for me, because I'm bad at these types of games. If you're a W&G fan, this will give you what you want. Not really much to complain about, other than the bugs.
Overly long story short: I can recommend this. Just keep in mind, that if S1 does not win you over, then the rest of the series will probably not do much to change that. Also make sure to get it on sale. This game was quite a mixed bag. It is definitely worth playing, if you can forgive lot of the more lame and downright embarrassing moments, that might hurt the overall immersion. Because of those I was at the point of almost ready to quit the entire game during mid seasons. There's a whole bunch of those moments in seasons 1-3, but a lot less in season 4. Still in between all the downfalls, there are the characters that make you wanna continue playing. Even most of the support characters are very enjoyable. Especially the dynamic between Clementine and AJ, which is my favorite thing in the entire game. Certain side characters have very predictable destinies, you probably know what I mean if you've played the game, and it's just plain stupid after the first time you saw it. To their credit, at several points they will try to change things up, and it can be either refreshing, or too little, too late. I'm somewhere in the middle. The character writing is it's strongest point, and all of them are very well voice acted, and they do make me want to continue and see the end result. Every now and then it also throws nice little twists to the story, that will throw you off just enough to make it not so stale and one-note. Overall I think the story is average, but it's the characters reacting to the world that makes it more interesting. I still think I got my money's worth eventually, when S4 came along. I think that was the point, when it lived almost fully to my expectasions, and I think that's the key word here: Expectations. Those play a big part of your experience, and I think that's what the developers intended, which I do congratulate them for. Okay enough badly written rambling. Buy it on sale and experience it yourself.
