Broken Sword: Director's Cut

Try the Original first!!!

I have played this game multiple times. In a way it was almost avant-garde: a conspiracy thriller about the knights templar, long before The Da Vinci Code hit the shelves. I remember playing the original as a kid in the late nineties, and then, many years later, the Director's Cut. The first time I played the Director's Cut, it was on a Nintendo DS, and I quite liked some of the story elements they added. After having played it now for the second time on a MacBook Pro, I'm not so impressed anymore. Although the new storyline managed to get me interested, it didn't really lead anywhere in the end. You can't die in the game anymore, which took some of the thrill out of it for me. The graphics and the animation are uneven, to say the least. The Cutscenes, for some reason, end very abruptly... I could go on for hours. If I had only purchased the Director's Cut version of the game, I'd probably rate it three stars out of five. That is, if I felt generous. However, as the original game is included with the GOG package, how could I possibly complain? Again, not all is bad about the Director's Cut, some of the things they added are neat. But I wholeheartedly recommend trying the original version first.
