Bland character design with poorly written dialogue to the point where i started skipping optional conversations. The premise of the story is not worse than many other RPGs but the writing is so lacking it almost feels like they forgot to include parts of the story. I cannot give a lot of details without spoilers but foran example look at when the main character is suddenly capable of connect ancient parts into an advanced AI driven robot. In the middle of a library. Without any tools! The combat is decent enough. You have a party of 4 characters made from a pool of 6, and you put them in pairs. As you fight, they will build bonds which unlocks various bonuses. I will refrain from nitpicking and stick to my main gripes which are 1. Each character has a very specific roles and while they do have talent boards, there is practically no build variety since it's extremely obvious how to build them 2. Boss fights are clearly designed with a specific party composition or at the very least a specific character being present in mind. The problem is there is no shared xp so you will have to level a character so had no intention of using to pass a fight. As for the rest, it is plagued by baffling design decisions. You can fast travel between frog statues, which are plentiful. Cool, right? Except you cannot travel between to random statues. Instead you have to fast travel from a statue back to base and then you travel to another statue. Why? It is just a waste of time. In fact, the entire game is full of time wasting animations for doing basic things There is some fun to be had here but i would only recommend it at a huge discount and only if you have high tolerance for time wasting design
