I generally love Star Wars games, and I was starting to get into the story for the first couple of evenings playing it. The graphics are good for the era of the game, and there is an interesting story and set of environments for the plot to unfold. Tinkering with and upgrading items adds to a very rich set of items and upgrades. But, unfortunately, KOTOR2 has become almost painful to play after just a few evenings of playing it. The fact that an auto-pause feature was needed to pause the game while you scroll up / down the menus of force powers, medical items, non-medical items, etc. shows that the developers couldn't be bothered to make a streamlined interface. You also have little indication to tell you what affects are helping / inhibiting you, beyond a glow for only 1 or 2 of the affects and the 5 up-arrows on your profile pic. It's also very frustrating to finish one fight and have one of your 3 companions go charging after another group when you really want your party to retreat and recover, first. (You have to pause the game and set the stance to non-aggressive after that fight to avoid this.) And why only 3 of my party of 4 or 5 characters present go on this stage of the adventure never was explained beyond the developers were just too lazy. When you do finish off a boss character, you can forget about looting that awesome sword he was beating you down with because he won't have any remains, while that ugly beast you killed on the plains somehow had credits and/or a med pack. If I had paid full release price for this, I'd be quite annoyed. But, for the sale price of only a couple of bucks, it's probably worth it, if nothing else than to know the story when it's referenced elsewhere. I'll give this a 'meh' of only 3 stars, though I'd have only given it 2.5 stars if that were possible. :-/
This was a fun and amusing management, like a D&D cross of Evil Genius and Startopia. The cuts scenes are funny, irreverent, and irrelevant. However, the fact that the minions get angry because they haven't bothered to seek out their food or payment becomes annoying in the later levels. The map is also disorienting and you will find yourself loosing track of where you were intending to drop creatures off. So, I'll give it only 3 stars. Better choices would be Evil Genius and Startopia.
