Game is old, and there are certainly much better games, but this one is legendary and truly started a new genre. There is othing else like it in terms of atmosphere. I love Diablo II, but that game doesn't even come close to this one with regards to its dark and haunting atmosphere and the tension the music invokes, even when safe in town.
