Been playing Sould Reaver 1 for a few hours now and it's as awesome as I remember but now in HD. They squashed a few bugs... intriduced a few new ones, and updated the graphics. They even added a map but it's pretty useless. Anyway, this is my recommnded way to experience Soul Reaver at the moment.
The biggest bug I encountered was the aspect ratio would change everytime I would save the game. Not game breaking, just annoying. The game itself is very enjoyable although some of the puzzles make you question reality. Who would have thought to throw the figs down the nostrils of the sphinx? I certainly didn't and had to look that up. The Story is decent, but the humor is top notch. It's some good ol slapstick humor that just pokes fun at things. If you like point and click adventures, then this is certinaly worth checking out.
I played this a long time ago on the Nintendo GameCube and loved it then. I was so pleased when I found out that this game was ported to the PC and on GOG! It was an instant purchase, no questions asked. I am reviewing this game later than a lot of the other reviews on this page, but I have not encountered any real or glaring issues with this game on GOG. Everything has worked as expected and I was able to complete the game in around 12 - 13 hours of gameplay. If I had to categorize this gem of a game it would be an Egyptian themed Zelda game, except for the platforming parts.
The OG Metal Gear that began it all! A great game that doesn't hold your hand, but is still not too difficult when playing on Original Difficulty. An absolute must play if you're a fan of Metal Gear Solid as the story here takes place before MGS.
