I originally had this game on PS2, but the controls were hard to grasp, so I had never had any experience with the PC version. (I had heard that the PC version was superior anyway.) Onto things you guys actually care about, the story of the game is pretty good from what I can remember, with a lot of twists and turns. The swordfighting is probably the best that Ive seen for a long time in a game, the graphics are also very memorable. The whole going back in time thing was very innovative, this being the first game using it and other games started to copy it after this was released. All in all, Prince of Persia Sands of Time is a great game, and Im absolutely delighted to have it in all its DRM-Free glory at GoG.com!
If you refer to my previous review on Blake Stone Aliens of Gold, you will find that was my first FPS game I ever played. This one was remarkably different, but keeping the same style as the first Blake Stone game. It had a lot of new improvements, such as adding new weapons, instead of getting a red keycard to exit the level you had to blow up the power conduit that would open the gate. The atmosphere had also dramatically changed, adding a sort of fog-like effect to the aging Wolf3D engine. A must buy if you loved the first Blake Stone, and also Wolf3D!
This game originated as a sequel to Wolfenstein 3D, going to be named Wolfenstein 3D Part 2. The team at Apogee quickly decided that it would be better as a stand alone game. They were right, ROTT is the furthest thing from Wolf3D! Its faster, bloodier, and has way more enhancements. It was one of the first FPS's (or only FPS) to incorporate Jump pads and I believe it was the first to incorporate a flight mode (powerup). Its the only FPS game to date where drugs are powerups!
I originally bought this game when it had been out for a while, but I sold my copy and I could have kicked myself! I ended up buying it here on GoG when it came out on here because I like it so much. The game is very simple to grasp, its like the old 2D duke games turned into 3D. Its kind of like Mario, jump and run and shoot. All in all, a great game!
I bought Broken Sword 2 before I bought 1 and 3, and I must say it is one of the strongest titles in the series. A lot of people are critisizing the length of the game but I have to say to fit the story it is the perfect length. I also really enjoyed the monkey island 3 style graphics and the humour. In summary, a great game for broken sword fans and adventure fans alike! Oh, and make sure you check out the reference to Beneath a Steel Sky in the subway part while playing as Niko!
