I havent played these in many years now so the learning curve is quite steep, but it is worth it, switch off you tube and social media and get absorbed into a tough but rewarding experience and allow yourself to be transported back to the 90s and sorry but dont even bother with the twin sticks, these games were designed around d pad tank controls so just embrace it, the more patience you have with these games the more you will be rewarded.
Having not played this game since around 1998 and having played the remake many many times since 2002 my memories of this original have been jaded by the remake, this is much faster paced than the remake and to be honest actually much more fun, the remake is much more cinematic, atmospheric and just gorgeous to experience but this version really is just a good old game, its quite easy by todays standards, its a simple fun gaming experience, the lack of any lighting effects really takes away any chance of it being scary anymore it actually now plays out more like a relaxing puzzle game to play in the afternoon, for the last 20+ years I have held the view that this game is redundant due to the existence of RE make but now I realise how unfair and innacurate that actually is, the original is still a tremendous game and to be honest it benefits from not being too cinematic now, RE games over the last 8 years or so have become extremely high quality in terms of production values, its actually kind of refreshing to experience RE in its purest form here just a good old game that feels very gamey and isnt trying to replicate any blockbuster movie. highly reccomended and I will certainly be purchasing part 2 to take that one for a spin, £8.99 you would pay that for a Pizza these days.
Great game for those of us who were around in the 90s, takes less than 5 mins to get hooked again, the stealth has arguably never been matched to this day, the story is convuluted and silly, classic Kojima.
I miss the days when games encouraged you to take your time and plan your next move, this is great for people who appreciate 90s and early 00s game design
