This gem stil is one of my favorite games of all times. Hold pretty well even after so many years. The story is fantastic and the music exelent.
Why I bought this game? Because just 3 hour ago, I was driving in my car, talking to my best friend over the phone. We where talking about games that we wanted to play. I mentioned Pax Imperia and told him how sorry I was the CD was broken. Then I come home, sees Pax Imperia on GOG. Insta buy. I love it.
Trying to go to sleep last night I suddenly thought of this game. I have played Xcom EW lately, and got to think about this game. I remembered the sounds, music and awesome research screens. The game just felt so right, in a sense that almost all hope is lost, humanity is almost gone. I just had to get up and buy it from GOG. The game is not an xcom equivalent but the feel and atmosphere of it is totally awesome. Even 11 years later.
I downloaded settlers 2 last week and found myself thinking of the old days. I actually wished for this game to come out on gog a few weeks ago. Lots of good memories of playing this game. I liked the new thinking of how to play this game. I think the new way is great, whil keeping the old building methods, they made the fighting more interesting in my opinion. I LOOVED filling upp my ships with warriors and inwade the enemy from the sea. I love the worshipping part and the spels. And in multiplayer you could have never ending supply of materials if you allied with every faction. The missions gave me a real challenge at the time. (I was 18) I wonder if it stil is.
I can agree that this game may not be for eveyone, but I actually enjoied this game very much. True, it took me a loooong time to get a hang of, but eventually, I ended upp playing it with a friend over net for about a week. A long game with lots of micromanaging and story. Endless research and building. Very fun for the entusiast.
