There's a lot to love about this game, but it lacks severely in what makes a great rpg great. - Fantastic presentation. Visuals, music and sound design are great. All areas whether it's a cave, city, forest or inside of a house all look splendid and are well designed. This makes you excited to explore areas, however this carries almost no reward at all. Most areas don't contain anything of value except for a nice scenery. There is no loot, no hidden (as far as I know) areas and no interesting side quests. - The world and story are very interesting, however the story in my opinion falls a bit flat towards the end. - Enemy design is boring as heck and enemies are recycled over and over. You will spend most of your time killing either humans or generic monsters. When you finally get to face off against some sort of boss it usually only has 3-4 moves that it spams, and these bosses are also recycled multiple times during the story. This gets even worse towards the end of the main storyline. - Unreal amount of fast travelling between areas to complete generic side quests. - Your companions are for the most part pretty interesting well written, but after you've completed their side quests they serve almost no purpose for immersion or gameplay. They control themselves in combat and never offer any new dialogue options. They also rarely engage in banter unlike companions in games such as DA:I and Pillars of Eternity. - Lackluster equipment and skill tree. Very few options for upgrades, customization and cosmetics. tl;dr: A general lack of depth plagues this game. It might be worth buying for a single playthrough for visuals and world alone, but I wouldn't bother playing it again. This game has a lot of potential and I'm sure that the next RPG Spider releases will be an instant classic. Tips: 1. Play with a controller 2. Get a graphics mod (SweetFX) that removes the ugly brown filter that takes away from the otherwise amazing visuals.
