Normally I would give this three stars. EE is not a substantial improvement over the original and is in no way worth paying full price for when you could just buy the originals. This brings me to the reason for my one star rating. Beambog has had the originals removed from GOG. Rather than make an overhaul capable of competing with the originals on an even footing they choose to remove the ability to buy the originals. You can still obtain the originals, but only by paying for Beamdog's mediocre at best remakes. As for the remakes themselves, the best I can say is that the UI scales better than the original. The current version is better than the glitchy original release, but is still a mixed bag due to questionable design decisions. For example, the spell selection screen UI was changed for no apparent reason and no visible benefit. In fact, the change increases clicks per action in several key cases. I consider this a major issue because I spend 10-20% of my playtime in the spell screen this is a major issue. However, my playstyle is somewhat unusual (Solo play with hyper-optimized builds and multiple difficulty mods.) and most players will not feel a need to extract every last ounce of utility from their spell list. P.S. It is against GOG's policy to advocate piracy.
