It's very much EVE offline. I had fun with it for a good number of hours, but there is a lot of room for polish and balance. There are some glaring quality of life features missing that stops me from giving this 5 stars. I found very little reason to do any other mission than combat. You can get 3 to 40 times the rewqard for comban missions compared to anything else. Unlike EVE, mining doesn't feel rewarding either. Asteroids deplete in seconds and again the rewards for mining is neglegable compared to a single combat mission. I hope development keeps going, there is so much potential here! Even at this stage, I'd say it's worth the purchase price.
I wasn't really on the hype bandwagon and started playing version 1.05 on a potato with a i7-4790K and GTX 970 from back when this game started being developed. Put in maybe 40 or so hours into a single playthrough and experienced only one crash, many glitches of things spawning or despawning, few sound bugs, but honestly nothing that annoyed me too much as far as performance. The characters, world and story was very gripping in the beginning, but I felt things slowing down in the final 3rd. By the end of my playthrough I felt some of the dialogue and choices didn't make much sense. Clearly this part of the game did not get the polish it deserved. I could get past the somewhat clunky controls that feel like a quick console port, but the one part of the game that I found truly infuriating and frustrating was driving. There are no words to describe how bad cars handle on PC. The fact that there are a few unavoidable story quests where you HAVE to drive and a lot of side missions involving driving AND they made cars this big collectable part of the game knocked down a whole star for me. This is not a Witcher 3 or a Red Dead Redemption 2 and it's always easy to focus on the negatives, but overall I had a good time with this game, even if I don't see any reason to replay it. If they ever do an overhaul of cars, it would be a good 4 star title for me.
