Myst Masterpiece Edition

Win 7 nightmare

Myst is a great game, but my attempt at nostalgia has gone awry. Originally I was going to download RealMYST but GoG.com didn't list it as Win 7 compatible. I should have tried it anyway, because despite this version being Win 7 compatible, I had to spend well over an hour finding compatibility settings which would allow it to function. BTW, on 2 different Win 7 machines those settings don't match. Since those machines have different video cards, and monitor configs, I think that has a lot to do with how the compatibility mode needs to be set up. Anyway after figuring that out mess out, I've come to learn that the save feature doesn't work right. Basically, the game forced my screen resolution so low that when it brings up a same gave screen (which looks like windows file explorer), you can't even see the file name. This makes it difficult if not almost impossible to save the game. I've also noted that the option for getting a game hint doesn't help at all. Long story short, I wish I had spent my $5.99 on RealMYST because I bet I could get it to run on Win 7 (Steam lists it as being "unofficially supported" for Win 7, even though GOG says nothing of the sort). I really wish I could just get my money back and switch to that version. Please learn from my mistake. If you use Win 7 or run your monitors at a high resolution (like 1080p), you may encounter some major headaches.
