MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries

Still buggy as hell

As the topic suggests, the game is still full of annoying bugs. Here's what I had to deal with: 1) Completely broken hit detection when an enemy mech is airborne. I strike with my two PPC's and the blasts are flying through the enemy without causing any damage. This happens in a single player game, so we can't blame it on the network lag. When an enemy mech is on the ground it works as expected. 2) So I wanted to get the "Challenge accepted" achievement. Therefore, I made my tonnage EXACTLY 50 tons lower than required, but agter the successful finish of the mission I got nothing. So I presume, the game only counts the tonnage if it is MORE than 50 tons less than required, not 50 tons MORE OR EQUAL less. This is a stupid mistake, to be honest. 3) Sometimes, when your mech overheats, the big red banner saying that your mech was shut down does not go away. So you have to finish a mission with a big red thing that obscures your aim. This is thrice as stupid as other bugs. Seriously guys... do you do QA?

Into the Stars

It could've been a great game...

...in a different reality. Where do I start with this one... well, first of all you should click on the "Begin" button in order to quit the game. It's a signal the game gives from the start. Other reviews here are true - the game process is monotonous and repetitive. But what is the worst is the amount of random - it is way too much. You can pick just 6 crew mates from the start and then you send three of them to the surface of the planet, order them to explore a site and one of them gets suddenly gets killed. And you don't seem to have a way to resurrect or replace the guy. This all means you have way less control over what happens to your ship or your crew than you'd like to. There is no strategy pretty much or even things like tactics. The almighty random beats it all. And the story is kinda boring. I'd really like to love the game but I can't. And it's a pity as it looks like this game was loved by its developers.
