Essentially every level is a collection of a few large completely flat and open areas that spawn monsters and every now and then ammo and health. Clear an area, go through the now open door, go to the next room and repeat. There are some levels, especially early on, that play around a bit more with geometry and making interesting looking maps. Unfortunately it seems they decided to only do large open areas with waves of the same enemies afterwards. Hard pass on this unless you really love FPS games... and maybe even then.

For the most part this is a great game, not quite up to the level of Ion Fury, but still great. The ending needed a bit more work though in my opinion. Because the third to last level felt a bit... meh. The penultimate level was too long for its own good with most things feeling the same. And the final level had the most unecessary boss fight I've seen in a long time. Still a solid 8/10.

The original Unreal doesn't have much a story going for it, so I guess they decided to go overboard in this one to make the story interesting. Sadly they forgot that the game itself has to be interesting as well. Movement is really slow, most bossfights require shooting a couple of times, taking one step behind a corner, moving back out and shooting a couple of times, rinse and repeat. Levels are also not really interesting. Large open with a couple of enemies here and there. In my opinion this is a skip.

Overall I think this game is great, lots of interactibility, fun characters, good writing, and mostly decent combat (if somewhat on the easy side outside of boss battles, especially towards the end). There are however two or three areas that require basically pixel hunting for buttons to move on. Which is absurdly frustrating. Also had two puzzles that didn't figure out they're solved the first time I solve them, so I had to resolve them. Annoying, but minor nitpick.

This was a slog. It was only 3 hours to finish completely and it felt like 8. There are 6 bosses in the game and they are all quite easy to defeat. The challenge comes from poor controls and an even worse camera. Most of the time it zooms out when something comes from off screen, not always though. Sometimes it just zooms out anyway and sometimes it doesn't zoom out when stuff is coming from off screen. Avoid this unless your a glutton for punishment
