If you like games like Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Nox, Arcanum, Planescape: Torment then you will definitely like this game. Imagine that a portal opens up in your bedroom and takes you to some RPG universe. How would you behave in this world? This is how you have to behave in Age of Decadence, don`t act stupid don`t try to kill everyone. You are definitely not a hero and the world definitely does not revolve around you. But if you play your cards right you may become one of the important figures that shapes the politics of the world and the outcomes of events. But you will never be treated as the single handedly most important person in the whole universe. And you will never be a master of all trades where as it is quite easy to go astray and become jack of all trades. So specialize and each skill set has its own rewarding gameplay. Don`t expect your first play to lead you anywhere, it will be just a learning phase and then you can trash your character after half a day, read the forums for guides and start a new with a well-educated strategy.
This game lets you kills enemies with about 100 different weapons each of which is super cool. I remember that playing this when I was a small child (20 years ago?) it felt so cool that I did not even care about the clunky controls. If the controls were clunky there were ways around forcing the controls to do what you wanted. Back then we were more insistent and less whiney. Now a days people would give 1 star to a game if they are slightly displeased by controls or camera angles or such. Back then we were real gamers, 10 years old albeit real gamers. I dont think anybody under 25 should buy this game but if you are person who has played this game 20 years ago, you should definitely rebuy this game to show your gratitude to the developers for all the jolly fun times you had with it.
