Alpha Protocol

Awesome

I never played this originally but read an article about this re-release and watched the promotional video. I loved obsidian RPGs and most RPGs where the conversation affects the outcome. This game is great! Admittedly, the shooting etc. isn't the high point but the story, dialogue, customization, and choices make up for it. Definitely worth the price.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

Good, interesting game.

Very atmospheric and creepy. Also generally looked good -- some bad looking textures here and there. Also, the game isn't super long. It's a hell of a ride though.

RiME

Great fun, while it lasts

I got this free for buying another game during a spring sale. This "free" game actually ended up being better than the $20 game I got. Great graphics, very atmospheric and overall enjoyable. Lasted for about three play sessions before I finished it. Loved it though.

Jade Empire: Special Edition

Where is the controller support?

I LOVED this game on Xbox and was excited to revisit it on PC with better graphics etc. I was extremely disappointed that it doesn't include gamepad support, of any kind. I tried playing with keyboard but just couldn't get the hang of it. Very disappointing -- this game was designed for Xbox, it just doesn't play right without a gamepad.

Leisure Suit Larry: Love for Sail!

Not one of the best in the series.

As a diehard Larry fan, I somehow missed this one. Back in the day, I had all the LSL games (1-3, 5, Shape up). This game does not live up to those -- or maybe it just hasn't aged well. The jokes are very cheesy and I just didn't find myself laughing much or enjoying the game. The entire game takes place on a ship so the locales are not very diverse. Meh... i guess it is worth a couple of bucks but I would have been mad paying full price for this when it was released.

Grim Fandango Remastered

Not as good as other LucasArts Remasters

Let me start by saying I grew up on Adventure games and played almost all of them as a kid. I LOVED the remastered versions of the Monkey Island Series and even Day of the Tentacle. THIS remaster had me scratching my head, trying to figure out what was actually remastered. The graphics aren't great and the screen is is a 4:3 format with bars on the sides of the screens. The cutscenes are obviously not remastered as the models look worse than those from when you are playing the game. Remastered indeed -- you will not be impressed by the graphics in this game. That being said, the game is humorous and somewhat enjoyable. The controls are weird -- the inventory ATROCIOUS and a huge pain to sort through.

The Longest Journey

Was probably good in 1998

I recently learned of this series and decided to buy all and play all -- TLJ, Dreamfall: TLJ and Dreamfall Chapters. Playing through this game was painful. Some of the puzzles are very difficult but, most of all, the going is slow because your character is so damn slow to walk from area to area. You will click on the exit to the screen, and then press "ESC" to make her run... only to wait 15 seconds while she runs across the screen. Some of the fetch quests required going from many areas and back again, only to have to sit and wait minutes at a time while she navigated the screen. UGH! This is also an old game, don't forget to save. I forgot to save once and lost 2 hours of progress when the game crashed at the end of a chapter. This game may have been phenomenal when it came out but it is very dated today. Blocky, ugly graphics that have not stood up as well as even old Sierra games. The only thing this has going for it is the story and, possibly, nostalgic value if you played this back in the day. Had I known this, I probably would have skipped this entry and just read a plot synopsis before starting Dreamfall: The Longest Journey.
