I played it with unofficial patch 1.3. Only thing to say, it was very ahead of its time and the used quake2 engine was not ready for all the features it should have. Game has very good level design, music plays very well along. Puzzles are good. Weapons also fit in. You can even "level up" some perks (power, speed, etc). You should really give it a try. In todays fancy graphics, cheap stories and toddlers gameplay stands very well. Go and try for your self.
SPOILER alert. Very hard game, i played it even with datadisk when it comes out. I played hours and houre. Done it. I played it again. It was so amazing. Casting spells, ambushing enemy wizard, chasing insects for mana...When you start a level and there is only lots of enemies you should flyght into the bunch of them and cast the castle spell :). Instantly you get lots of mana and you are a wizard :). Ok you shod have some practis before doing this, but then you are almost invicible... almost.
This game gave my one of the best playing times. Its original in every way you can imagine. Its about flying a magic carpet and cast spells, fight enemy wizards and many insects enemies. I will remember this game forever. It was one of the first i bought like an original cd. I recommend it for everyone. It deserves it. Its very sad that to this day there is no remake whats so ever, and i doubt it ever be.
I played it when it comes out, it was not well optimized (is not an issue any more), and therefore it got very poor reviews. For me its best game for its time, even better than Duke3d.It has good story, interesting places (waterworks, secret laboratories, bank, underground etc.) and good weapons. Its full of funny moments, and conversations.Music fits perfectly in, changing its pace as you encounter enemies or going in sneaky stile.Thank you GOG for this gem.
