The one route I ran was really fun, but by the end of the game the life simulation aspects started to drag it way day. By the end of the game I was just mindlessly clicking on activities hoping that no one would be there so that the activity would go by quicker. The actual plot I did was interesting enough that I was tempted to do another one, but there is just no way I could get there the day-to-day activities again anytime soon. With MoA and Liberation Day you could at least set the difficulty to easy to essentially skip the battles if you didn't think the gameplay was well done. That's not possible with Academy, however. There is a difficulty slider, but it just makes you more likely to succeed in activities, so you still have to go through the game day by day. If you can get past the repetitiveness, then the plot is funny, and it is interesting to see the cast in such a different light than the main series, but before you buy it make sure you're ready for the long haul.
