In 2023 it's a decent game and you can get hours of playtime, but prepare to grind your teeth A LOT. The UI is the biggest problem - it should be have been scrapped and redone long ago. It is FULL of "innovative" but bad ideas which lead to constant UX pain. It is way overloaded and should be brought down to basics. Like many procedurally generated games, it's vast but inch deep. I'd like to see a lot less effort in static 3D modelling of assets like space stations and anomalies and settlements and whatnot, and A LOT more work into actual procedural generation and modularity so that exploration doesn't feel like finding the same things and doing the same things over and over. Behind all that, the gameplay loop is decent and planet generation (flora+fauna) is pretty nice, but it is very hard for me to enjoy the game with so much constant annoyance. Mods help with the biggest problems but it is still far from a consistently good experience.
