Very well designed game when it comes to enroll new mechanics, get back to old ones and the monster movement is just gorgeous. Snakes, spikes, screams, throwing things and people around, all of the music and atmosphere. I would love to play sequel where I can choose way to finish my opponents, fight other biomass creatures, shoot helicopters down and conquer buildings, whole town :)
I absolutely cannot stand doom'like retro pixel shooters and in the same time horror games. But... this one's different and has special mix of ingedients I'm attracted to. I admit to jump scared many times and ran away like hell from those monsters. Well, I know I'm playing dead hero, so why bother with death, but when crocodile just speed up to eat my guts, or Vendigo stayed alive after my critical knife surprise attack and slowly turn to shout at me and launch flying skulls from chest, I just died. An wanted to rise again. What's best then? - simplicity (I know it's just on surface, not too big maps, too many quests. It's just enough to think I can do it) - atmosphere (distorted wild west) - lore and aestetics (top notch, every chapter unique and polished, bestiary, NPCs, bosses) - choosing beetwen hide & seek (slowly approach is almost safe for chicken-hearted people like me), or smoking guns way (only option when gathered enough ammo) - headshots (just satisfying. Back of the head is quite important) - curses on deaths (increasing difficult if you too cocky) - managing resources (maintaining balance between gathering, selling and using) - secrets (Alvaro ❤️)
At first I was dissapointed since there were constant clicking and waiting few seconds to speed up, avoid police, sell. Well, you can do waiting time on pause, but still it's average fun. Fortunately game is quite deep and after 20h it didn't reveal all guide and mechanics yet. I love music, full of chill and dj mixing. There is great implementation of mixing plants, talk or spy to get funny backstory and possibility to blackmail. As for tycoon type game, figuring out which configuration would be most efficient is made well and in satisfactory way.
The Invincible is one of my best gaming experience. Game hold you close, don't let go and dive you into intense and immersive landscape exploration of unknown planet Regis III. Basically 7h entertainment, but different endings can provide 17h (it's worthy, at least for me, gave real chills :)) Gameplay focus on walking simulator with linear, detective plot (with some forks) and natural, science oriented dialogues between main character Yasna and Astrogator Novik who lead expedition from safe orbit. Atompunk aesthetic is perfectly balanced with small details and subtle but sometimes powerful music. Plot is adaptation of classic book of polish futurologist, Stanisław Lem, who is legend when it comes to SF genre.
