This "remasterization" can only be sold because its name. It is a very poor job, reusing the old background without re-rendering new ones or adapting them to aspects like 16:9, just the old 4:3 ratio. I'm not able to say the sound band has been remastered as well, it sounds like the original. The only things that look remastered are the models, because the "new" light effects, resolution and textures look face washed.
