First of all i think the game is a great experience on PC overall and the main reason for much of the criticism is the over-hype and in a similar way to NMS CDPR allowing themselves to reinforce false impressions of their product. Don't get me wrong its a really good game already, but it tries to be a CDPR-Story-RPG, a Rockstar-Open-World Sandbox and a shooter all at once. CDPR did a great job on the story like i expected them to do since this is their biggest strength imo. However, since the game is such a vast world with completely new gameplay elements not seen in the witcher series i always expected those to be.. lacking. They are honestly better than i initially expected though still falling short of what many expected due to the hype, the open-world gameplay elements may not be as polished as GTA or other products that focus on this aspect (which CDPR historically has not really before, even The Witcher3 was only a semi-openworld) but they provide a workable base to build upon. I really do hope CDPR takes the Hello Games approach of really doubling down on their product to improve especially the performance and open-world weaknesses before focusing on things like addons. This would both help them regain some of the reputation they lost (especially with old-gen console buyers) and help them expand their line of game genres with another solid entry. On another note, I really believe that Cyberpunk 2077 in its current state is already a great platform which could be used for countless mods, which is why i do hope we get full modding support (unlike The Witcher 3 and more akin to Skyrim) this should greatly improve the longevity and reception of the game.
