Trüberbrook

beautiful game with alright gameplay

the story and gameplay isn't revolutionary, it's the usual point mystery point and click puzzle game, it's the artstyle that really sells this game, it's something you won't find anywhere els. i've only ever seen this in animated movies and shows, truly a treat to be able to take control of a character and move around and explore this world.

Cyberpunk 2077

Not Witcher 3 but still a great game

there's a lot to complain about, everything from bugs and glitches to the driving being horrendous to your choises sometimes being completely useless but in the end the good outweights the bad. i spent a bit over 60 hours in game and i had fun most of the time. i loved most of the characters, the story was fun and interesting even though the synopsis and advertivements for the game was really missleading. Johnny was really great, i thought he was just going to be a small side characters you could visit like Rogue but no he gets a much bigger role than that which is a good thing. the side missions are great and super entertaining, got everything from talking vending machines to going full detective and finding the victims of a comatosed serial killer. point is that there are indeed a lot wrong with the game, it ain't perfect, it ain't Witcher 3 so don't go in expecting that but all in all it's an enjoyable game with buying, and that's coming from someone who really doesn't like the Cyberpunk setting.

The Final Station

ending dragged it down from 4/5 to 3/5

i really liked the game, don't let the 3/5 scare you away because the game itself is very enjoyable. the story and levels and linear but honestly it's not a bad thing the game is a journey not an rpg. you are a train conductor who travels station to stations you can't exactly go off track. the atmosphere and environments is really where it shines, you really feel like there is so much there that you don't know about yet, there's intersting cryptic characters and notes strewn around that really helps keep the world interesting and the player going. the problem really comes in right at the end, without spoiling what happens but it keeps building and building the suspense and mystery and then it all falls flat, the balloon that has been filling up never popped it just let it's air out instead.

Firewatch

good first half, terrible second half

own it on steam but might as well make a review here too. really like the first half, it's interesting, the dialogue is great and the story/mystery is really building up and you're getting invested then in the second half the story and mystery just falls flat, dialogue is still there but the story falling apart really ruins the experience.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

a good game but one i will never replay

it's a good game and i'm happy i played it, i still have fond memories of it but nothing will ever make me replay it, i still have nightmares about all the backtracking, the combat might have taken some some time to get used to and the "sex scenes" are just erotic gwent cards but the backtracking is what truly sticks in my mind, a decade after i played it i still remember more than half my time in the game being running back and forth between areas far apart, later on you get a teleport so it gets a little bit better but still god damn. even with that i would still recommend it

Vampyr

meh with infuriating combat

story and characters are very meh but what really makes me drop it is the combat, you are dropped into a city with enemies far higher level than you and if you end up dying you respawn at the nearest safehouse except while the enemies all respawn you lose all ammo you used during it... what a absolutely garbage game mechanic, either return all things i lost dying or don't let the enemy respawn....

Expeditions: Viking

game breaking glitches

I really want to like this, i finished the prologue and enjoyed it but then when i try to leave the village i get teleported to the center, no matter what destination i pick. It's impossible to progress in the story, the game has been out for 2 full years and it's still nothing but a bug ridden mess. Don't buy it, you are just flipping a coin hoping you won't run into a game breaking bug.
